Mae Gallant Cardiovascular Nursing Leadership Excellence Award

 

Mae was a registered nurse, researcher and professor with the University of Prince Edward Island School of Nursing and a doctoral candidate at McGill University. She embodied excellence in nursing education, research, administration, and practice. She was recognized provincially and nationally for her contributions – establishing a nursing skills lab, conducting quality research including a national study investigating the costs and outcomes of nurses’ turnover, receiving the Exceptional Service Award from the provincial Heart & Stroke Foundation and serving on the Canadian Nursing Advisory Committee on the Quality of Nurses’ Work life. She was posthumously awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award from the Association of Registered Nurses of Prince Edward Island and was also recognized by the Canadian Nurses Association. She had a passion for cardiovascular nursing and was the leader and champion for CCCN PEI until her death in the early 2000s. 

 

 

Presented to a CCCN member who demonstrates outstanding leadership skills in cardiovascular nursing who:

 

1. Through his/her vision is advancing the practice of cardiovascular nursing;

 

2. Demonstrates leadership in the areas of administration education or evidence-based practice;

 

3. Builds and fosters a dynamic team;

 

4. Is an outstanding role model or mentor to others; and,

 

5. Is committed to the vision of CCCN and works on its behalf
